Bryan Schultz Wins WSOPC Ring in Lake Tahoe
[8 Dec 2011 | No Comment | ]

One of the most recent stops for the World Series of Poker Circuit was Harveys Lake Tahoe. It featured a $1,600 Main Event, which is certainly low by Main Event standards. This highlights a great thing about the WSOPC: the buy-ins are accessible so that the normal amateur player can take part. This is especially important in a day and age where Americans are not allowed on a William Hill Poker download.

A grand total of 327 people played over two Day 1s. This created a 6-figure first prize of $111,812! While 181 players made it to Day 2, just 11 players went on to Day 3. Within half an hour, two of these players busted and the final table was formed.

The first bust of the final table was Casey McCarrel. He started the final table with the fourth biggest stack, but he lost a chunk of chips to Chris Clark after doubling him up. He spent the rest of his chips on a flush draw and overcard against Ron Segni’s top pair, and he was sent to…

WSOP 2011 November Nine Day Two
[25 Nov 2011 | No Comment | ]

Last week I posted part 1 of our WSOP Main Event final table summary. Today I will continue this summary for the top three players of the biggest event available in casinos for USA players. When it became 3-handed, Martin Staszko had 35 big blinds, Ben Lamb had around 45 big blinds, and Pius Heinz had over half the chips in play with 90 big blinds.

The first hand of the final table’s Day 2 was a giant pot between Lamb and Staszko. There was a series of raises preflop, and finally Staszko was all-in with 77 against Lamb’s KJ. Lamb lost the big coinflip and was finished off by Staszko’s JJ just a few hands later. While Lamb was the 2011 WSOP Player of the Year, he had to settle for a disappointing third place in the Main Event.

Heads-up play finally began, and no one could have guessed the epic battle that was in store: 120 hands, 6 hours of play, and numerous lead changes. Staszko began heads-up play with a small chip lead but that was…

WSOP 2011 November Nine Day One
[17 Nov 2011 | No Comment | ]

The World Series of Poker Main Event has been the pinnacle of tournament poker for quite some time now. It is the ultimate goal of every poker player from beginners to world class professionals on the PKR download. Only nine players a year get a chance to play for the title in November.

This year’s $10,000 WSOP Main Event began with 6,865 players spread out over four Day 1’s and was further thinned out by two Day 2’s. After that there were six more days of play before a player could call themselves one of the “November Nine.” The November Nine was scheduled for 109 days after Day 8 in July.

Bob Bounahra, Sam Holden, Anton Makiievskyi, and Pius Heinz were coming into the final table with 40 big blinds or less. This gave them room, but it meant that they couldn’t sit around for too long. Martin Stazsko began the final table in the pole position with over 80 big blinds.

It took 51 hands until the first bustout occurred. Holden busted by running AJ suited into Ben…

Bob Chow Wins Big in Indiana Circuit Event
[11 Nov 2011 | No Comment | ]

With the recent problems that have plagued the online poker best in America, live tournaments across the country have seen a massive increase in attendance this year. The recent World Series of Poker Circuit event in Hammond, Indiana was one of these events.

1,615 players showed up and put up $1,600 a piece, which created an impressive prize pool of $2,349,825. The player that could conquer this record-setting field would take down $393,584 for first place. This is way more than you can usually win on a Ladbrokes Poker download!

The final table started out fast and furious with Eric Crain’s QJ cracking Shawn Quinn’s AK in an all-in preflop confrontation, which sent Quinn out in 9th. The action continued as Drazen Ilich got in the last of his chips with KK against the JT of Bob Chow on a 983 flop. Though Ilich held a big lead at the time, the turn came down with a 7 and left Illich drawing dead.

On the very next hand, Joe Hebda joined his former tablemates on the rail as…
