In December 2011 he chose not to renew his contract with PokerStars to pursue other endeavors. Perhaps he will download Roulette and get into the casino business?

Thomas Kremser is also well known in the poker world, as his skills as a tournament director are quite respected. He began his stint as the European Poker Tour tournament director in September 2004. Just a month after Black Friday, however, Kremser severed ties with the European Poker Tour. This sent shockwaves through the poker world.

A similar shockwave has once again been sent through the poker world with the news that the Gabi Campos, the CEO of PokerStars, has given his notice to depart from the online poker giant. Campos spent 3 years in an executive role with 888Poker before joining PokerStars in October 2010. However, after a short stint of 16 months Campos will be wrapping up his duties on February 1, 2012.

PokerStars download officials issued an official statement in mid-January 2012 announcing the departure of Campos. “PokerStars announced today that Gabi Campos has decided to step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer, effective Feb. 1, 2012, to pursue other opportunities. The company thanks Gabi for his hard work and commitment and wishes him the best in all his future endeavors. A search for Gabi’s replacement is under way.”

It remains to be seen whether or not the next PokerStars CEO will come from in-house or perhaps someone else in the industry with prior experience. What is certain is that a rather big void has been left in the past year with the departures of three longtime members of the poker industry. These voids will certainly need to be filled sooner rather than later.

A couple years ago, he applied for Team PokerStars Online and now he is a sponsored pro. He started playing big live tournaments and recently scored huge in Macau on the PokersStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour, banking a healthy $483,857. This apparently wasn’t enough for him, though. He decided he wanted to also break a Guinness World Record!

Lew made it clear on his Twitter that he planned to go for a World Record at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, but he wasn’t sure which record he would break. It probably would have been easy to break a Bingo codes record, but the man is a poker player. He decided to play eight hours of poker and set the record for playing the most hands while still remaining profitable.

The World Record attempt took place on January 8th. Lew played around 40 tables of $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Holdem for most of the eight hour session. He had to add $5/$10 No Limit at one point, however, because he was down $1,200 and needed to get back to breakeven as soon as possible. During the session he took zero breaks. This meant that he ate no food and did not use the bathroom even once!

Lew never gave himself a big profit cushion during his session. During his last hour of play, he was barely in the green! It must have been pretty nerve-wracking considering that his entire attempt might fail if he got unlucky in any way.

In the end, though, in true nanonoko fashion, he squeaked out a profit. He one-tabled in the end and ended up profiting $7.65. He made up for the lack of profit in rakeback though: he earned an astounding 22,784 FPPs playing mostly $50NL! In total he played 23,493 hands, which was 2,936 hands per hour and 49 hands per minute. Huge congratulations to Lew for an incredible accomplishment!

This meant a guaranteed overlay of at least $50,000! The guaranteed first prize was also $50,000, a huge sum for a $1 tournament.

The Sunday Storm is the biggest field every week with its accessible buy-in of $11. The 10th Anniversary Edition on December 11th, 2011 was the biggest it’s ever been with the guarantee up to a whopping $1 million from its usual $200,000. Adding to the festivities was a guaranteed first prize of $150,000 and $100 bounties on all PokerStars Pros in the event. Talk about some extra PokerStars rakeback!

A whopping 116,400 players registered for the special Sunday Storm. Once play reached 6-handed, the remaining participants worked out a deal that saw the smallest payout at $55,127 and the biggest payout at $87,437. In total the final six players chopped up over $400,000, an unbelievable amount for an $11 tournament.

PokerStars saved the best for last as they put up not only their biggest Sunday Million ever, but the biggest prize pool in the history of online poker. The previous biggest Sunday Million was held in March of 2011 celebrating five years of the tournament. That edition saw 59,128 players show up.

The 10th Anniversary version of the Sunday Million topped the March version by hitting 62,116 players and a final prize pool of $12,423,000. This narrowly edged out the 2010 WCOOP Main Event which had a $12,215,000 prize pool with a $5,200 buy-in. First place was guaranteed in the 10th Anniversary Sunday Million to be an enormous $2,000,000.

It was expected that the players would chop when they reached nine-handed play, but discussion didn’t really begin until six-handed play. At that point there was nearly $5 million left in the prize pool, and each remaining player locked up a vast sum of money.

The biggest winner in the 10th Anniversary Sunday Million was the eventual victor of the tournament, First-Eagle. Hailing from Canada, First-Eagle won $1,146,574 when it was all said and done. The remaining five payouts ranged from $580,724 to $995,996, which are unbelievable amounts for a simple day of poker on one of the best Mac poker sites.

Nicholas Levi was the chip leader when the final table formed, but his stack suffered an early blow after getting it in with bottom two against David Boyaciyan’s top set. This hand sent Levi’s stack plummeting to the bottom of the chip counts and sent Boyaciyan’s stack to the top.

Levi was in bad shape, but he managed to ladder all the way up to 3rd place. First Mads Wissing busted in 8th place, then Andreas Wiese busted in 7th, and Ari Engel in 6th. Denys Drobyna was the 5th place casualty, getting it in bad with A7s versus Boyaciyan’s AKs. Martin Finger busted Guillem Usero with KK against A8, and then finally busted Levi with AJ against 86.

The 4th and 3rd place busts really helped Finger out as they gave him a 2.5 to 1 chip lead over Boyaciyan going into heads-up action. Despite the chip discrepancy, the two players battled it out for hours. The final hand was, fittingly, a race as Finger got it in with AK versus TT. Boyaciyan couldn’t come back after KK6 flopped, and Finger was the EPT Prague champion!

There are a couple reasons why some people might find it surprising that Adelson doesn’t support online gambling, though. For one, the New York Post reported that he was in support of online poker at the federal level just earlier this year. Secondly, many other casino executives are very much in support of online gambling because they think there is a lot of money to be made.

Adelson stated that one of his biggest concerns is underage gambling. He doesn’t think that technology will be good enough to prevent it.

The Las Vegas Sands owns property in all parts of the world including Macau, Singapore, and of course the United States. They own plenty of property in Las Vegas, including the Venetian Resort and Casino.

It is currently unclear whether or not Adelson and the Las Vegas Sands will do anything with this viewpoint. Everyone in favor of online poker rooms in the United States should be crossing their fingers and hoping that this figurehead chooses to remain quiet, however.

One of the most recent stops for the World Series of Poker Circuit was Harveys Lake Tahoe. It featured a $1,600 Main Event, which is certainly low by Main Event standards. This highlights a great thing about the WSOPC: the buy-ins are accessible so that the normal amateur player can take part. This is especially important in a day and age where Americans are not allowed on a William Hill Poker download.

A grand total of 327 people played over two Day 1s. This created a 6-figure first prize of $111,812! While 181 players made it to Day 2, just 11 players went on to Day 3. Within half an hour, two of these players busted and the final table was formed.

The first bust of the final table was Casey McCarrel. He started the final table with the fourth biggest stack, but he lost a chunk of chips to Chris Clark after doubling him up. He spent the rest of his chips on a flush draw and overcard against Ron Segni’s top pair, and he was sent to the rail after missing his outs.

Segni held the chip lead at this point, but Daniel Lowery decided it couldn’t stay that way. The two men played a pot in which Lowery hit a full house versus Segni’s top two pair. This sent a huge number of chips Lowery’s way. Then Lowery gained even more chips after busting Joe Fernandez with yet another full house. When it became 6-handed, Lowery’s stack was, incredibly, worth half the chips in play.

Lowery’s stack was formidable, but Schultz almost caught up to him in chips after busting Segni in third place. Segni had to settle for just over $50k in prize money, but he shouldn’t be sad because it is a lot of money for video poker online

When it became heads-up, the stacks were quite deep. The remaining players decided to speed things up by eliminating three blind levels so that stacks were shallower. This action appears to have worked, for the match was over quite quickly.

Schultz put in the last of his chips all-in preflop with J9dd, but he was dominated by the AJ of Lowery. It was Schultz’s lucky day, though, for he hit a flush once the community cards fell. Lowery’s stack was crippled as a result, and he couldn’t mount a comeback. Congratulations to Schultz for winning WSOPC Lake Tahoe!

Do you need a hobby or a break from poker? Perhaps learn how to play Craps or Blackjack. You don’t even need to play for money since there are tons of free sites on the Internet. Take a look at some online casino reviews to find them.

PokerStars may not have video poker online, but they have the Sunday Storm. The 10th Anniversary edition of the Sunday Storm is on Sunday December 11th at 1:30 PM EST , and it will award the biggest first place prize in the history of the tournament. The prize pool guarantee is set at a whopping $1 million with $150,000 guaranteed for first place. And the buy-in is only $11! On top of that, every Team PokerStars Pro and Team Online member will have a $100 bounty for those who knock them out.

However, the biggest tournament of them all will be the 10th Anniversary edition of the Sunday Million. Already known as the biggest weekly tournament of all online poker rooms, this one is going to be extra big. The guaranteed prize pool is $10 million, with at least $2 million going to first place. The big event goes down December 18th.

PokerStars is still in the process of rolling out even more amazing promotions for their big 10th Anniversary, so keep your eyes open for them. If you haven’t already joined the site, you can boost your bankroll by making an account and using a PokerStars bonus code.

Lamb lost the big coinflip and was finished off by Staszko’s JJ just a few hands later. While Lamb was the 2011 WSOP Player of the Year, he had to settle for a disappointing third place in the Main Event.

Heads-up play finally began, and no one could have guessed the epic battle that was in store: 120 hands, 6 hours of play, and numerous lead changes. Staszko began heads-up play with a small chip lead but that was taken away Heinz just five hands into it.

For the first 30 hands or so Heinz maintained a small lead until Staszko ran a massive bluff to gain the chip lead. Heinz battled back with relentless aggression and regained the chip lead within another 30 hands. However, less than 15 hands later Staszko laid claim to the chip lead once again. Have you ever played a heads-up match like this on the Bodog Poker download?

This is where Staszko kept the longest chip lead of the heads-up encounter. With a combination of solid play and well-timed hands, he grinded Heinz down to 25 big blinds. Soon after having his lowest stack of the final table, however, Heinz started an epic run which culminated in the biggest pot of the tournament.

On a T7K flop with two clubs, Staszko and Heinz got in over 160 million chips with the blinds at 1,200,000/2,400,000 with a 300k ante. Staszko held the Q9 of clubs while Heinz had AQ of hearts. Heinz had a narrow lead but was able to hold on the turn and river for the game changing pot.

Just 8 hands later it was all over. Staszko jammed his last 39.5 million on the button and was met with a quick call by Heinz. Staszko would be live with his T7 of clubs against Heinz’s AK offsuit. The twenty two year old Heinz held in the most important pot of his life and became the first German WSOP Main Event champion ever. Staszko did the Czech Republic proud with his equally impressive runner up finish.

1 – Pius Heinz – $8,715,638
2 – Martin Staszko – $5,433,086
3 – Ben Lamb – $4,021,138
4 – Matt GIannetti – $3,012,700
5 – Phil Collins – $2,269,599
6 – Eoghan O’Dea – $1,720,831
7 – Bob Bounahra – $1,314,097
8 – Anton Makiievskyi – $1,010,015

The House of Representatives has discussed online poker a number of times, with bigwig Barney Frank a consistent instigator of debate. The Senate, on the other hand, have not formally covered the issue since 2006.

That’s all changed this week, with a hearing having been held to discuss the issue. It was entitled ‘Future of Internet Gaming: What’s at Stake for Tribes?’ and took place on November 17th. It concerned how the existing online gambling marketplace is affective Native American groups and what a regulated market might mean for them. It was designed to consider not only poker, but games like real money slots.

It’s almost traditional in the U.S. for Indians to run casinos and many are understandably concerned about the impact of online gambling on their lifestyles. The hearing was called to consider how the influx of offshore providers like the titan poker download and the recent DoJ action impacts on the livelihoods of the Tribes. The speakers and discussions are expected to continue today.

Among those speaking were Poker Players Alliance Chairman, Alfonse D’Amato. The long time poker proponent is no stranger to the seat of power, having served as a Senator himself. He was called to act as an expert witness. PPA Executive Director, John Pappas, commented that, “even though the subject matter may be limited to how this impacts Indian tribes, the PPA being able to testify will insert the positive reasons for consumers into the discussion.”

This is the not the only hearing that D’Amato has been present at in the last few months. An earlier hearing, entitled ‘Internet Gaming: is there a Safe Bet?’, also featured FairPlayUSA Chairwoman, Parry Aftab and National Indian Gaming Association Chairman, Ernest Stevens. Proceedings took place in the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade, which means that both houses on Capitol Hill have considered online poker in recent times.

“It’s encouraging that the House subcommittee is acting so quickly,” said John Pappas. “They could have punted to after Thanksgiving, but they chose to tackle it before the break.”

Online poker legislation appears to be picking up steam again and players around the world will be hoping for a regulated market to open up in the U.S. Meanwhile, online video poker fans will also be hoping that any legislation that passes does not exclude non-poker games.
