You might know Randy Lew as “nanonoko” online for he is well known in the poker community as an incredible cash game grinder. Since he has managed to achieve Supernova Elite every year since 2007, he has been receiving the maximum amount of PokerStars rakeback possible for a while now.

A couple years ago, he applied for Team PokerStars Online and now he is a sponsored pro. He started playing big live tournaments and recently scored huge in Macau on the PokersStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour, banking a healthy $483,857. This apparently wasn’t enough for him, though. He decided he wanted to also break a Guinness World Record!

Lew made it clear on his Twitter that he planned to go for a World Record at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, but he wasn’t sure which record he would break. It probably would have been easy to break a Bingo codes record, but the man is a poker player. He decided to play eight hours of poker and set the record for playing the most hands while still remaining profitable.

The World Record attempt took place on January 8th. Lew played around 40 tables of $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Holdem for most of the eight hour session. He had to add $5/$10 No Limit at one point, however, because he was down $1,200 and needed to get back to breakeven as soon as possible. During the session he took zero breaks. This meant that he ate no food and did not use the bathroom even once!

Lew never gave himself a big profit cushion during his session. During his last hour of play, he was barely in the green! It must have been pretty nerve-wracking considering that his entire attempt might fail if he got unlucky in any way.

In the end, though, in true nanonoko fashion, he squeaked out a profit. He one-tabled in the end and ended up profiting $7.65. He made up for the lack of profit in rakeback though: he earned an astounding 22,784 FPPs playing mostly $50NL! In total he played 23,493 hands, which was 2,936 hands per hour and 49 hands per minute. Huge congratulations to Lew for an incredible accomplishment!
